It has a fabulously large collection of birds from all round the world, tropical parrots, owls, large range of ducks, storks, BOP. Plus, it now has new exhibits planned and already constructed such as the new lemur house, and a great viewing area of capybara.

The best part is probably 'Water,Web and Wings' an indoor exhibit housing tropical rainforest species, such a crowned pigeon and grey-winged trumpeter, with an open topped sea-floor style aquarium that you can look down onto, home to Port Lincoln shark and zig-zag ray. Also incorporated is a bird enclosure with lilac-reasted roller and stone-curlew.

This place is possibly the best small zoo in the midlands yet hardly anyone knows about it. When we visited on a Wednesday in summer last year there was only one other family in the whole zoo! Yet the funding that goes into the place must cost a fortune.
